Medication reminders

Reminders that fit the rest of your week.

A good reminder supports the instructions you already have. It does not make medication decisions for you.

Start with the prescribed instructions

Before creating a reminder, confirm the medicine name, prescribed dose, frequency and any storage or administration instructions from the dispensing label and patient information leaflet. Different GLP-1 and dual GLP-1/GIP medicines have different schedules and missed-dose rules, so a generic app reminder should never substitute one medicine’s instructions for another.

If the label, leaflet and advice you remember do not agree, pause and ask a pharmacist or prescriber. Do not use an internet summary, another person’s routine or an AI response to resolve a dosing uncertainty.

Build a dose-day routine

A simple routine reduces the amount you have to remember. You might choose a reminder at the prescribed time, a second prompt to confirm that the medicine was taken, and a note field for anything you want to discuss later.

Useful details to keep together

  • The exact medicine name and prescribed dose.
  • The scheduled date and time.
  • Whether the dose was completed, delayed or not taken.
  • Any relevant instructions copied from the official label or leaflet.
  • Questions for your pharmacist or prescriber.

Avoid placing confidential clinical information in a notification that appears on a locked screen if other people can see your device.

If a reminder is missed

A missed notification is not automatically a missed dose. First check whether the medicine was taken and simply not recorded. If a dose may genuinely have been missed, consult the leaflet supplied with that specific medicine or contact a pharmacist or prescriber. The safe next step depends on the product and timing.

Do not double a dose, shorten the interval, change the schedule or restart after a break unless the product instructions or a qualified healthcare professional explicitly tell you to do so.

Connect reminders to useful observations

A medication reminder can sit beside—not control—other routine notes. Recording eating, drinking and symptoms around the week may help you describe patterns accurately at an appointment. Our guides to hydration, protein and side effects explain how to keep those notes practical and clinically neutral.
